Honoring Resilience with the 2024 KWG Memorial Scholarship
Now in its second year, the KWG Scholarship holds a special place in our hearts — the KWG Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Kevin W. Gaffney, and this year we continue to honor his legacy by supporting Strongsville student-athletes who have demonstrated remarkable strength and character in the face of adversity.
On May 7, 2024, four deserving student-athletes were awarded the KWG Memorial Scholarship, each having submitted a compelling essay about a time they failed and the lessons they learned from that experience. The prompt was simple, yet profound — this focus on defeat resonates with the 2024 Scholarship's guiding principle that setbacks can be the most valuable teachers, shaping us into stronger, more determined individuals.
“At INFINIUM, we believe you often learn more from your failures than you do your successes. We also have a saying that “If no one did anything, nothing would get done.” We had 19 essays submitted. The kids did a great job."
Shawn Gaffney, President
The celebration of these athletes' achievements is a reminder that challenges are often opportunities in disguise. By embracing failure and using it as a catalyst for change, these students have set a powerful example for their peers and the broader Strongsville community. Their experiences reveal that failure is not the end of the road but a steppingstone toward growth and self-improvement.
Through this scholarship, we aim to instill the belief that success is not solely measured by victories but by the courage to persevere, adapt, and grow, despite difficulty. We commend the 2024 scholarship recipients for their outstanding resilience and encourage them to continue inspiring others throughout their journey.
Congratulations to the 2024 Recipients!
